bio_picRosalinde Block grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College and has spent the past 30+ years working as a commissioned artist, illustrator, singer/songwriter, musician and teacher.

Rosalinde’s commercial work began 20 years ago, when she designed tea trays, porcelain ware for a San Francisco-based art company. At that time she also illustrated the entire stock of a New York-based furniture manufacturer. Those renderings are still being used in catalogs at The International Home Furnishings Convention at High Point, North Carolina. Today her artwork can be seen in bars, restaurants and home accessories stores throughout the New York/New England area. Her murals and trump l’oeils have been featured in catalogs and galleries across the country. Most recently Rosalinde installed a faux stained glass mural at the Sports Club NY/Reebok Club on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.

One of Rosalinde’s specialties lies in room renderings. Instead of taking a photograph, her clients opt to capture a piece of posterity by having renderings made of their homes or favorite rooms. Rosalinde has created room renderings from Riverside Drive to Park Avenue, from East Hampton to Cape Cod. Room renderings were a natural springboard to muraling, as Rosalinde has also been commissioned over the years to fill walls in children’s rooms and play spaces.

Rosalinde’s recent venture, “Babywood™,” features art for children and adults—a.k.a. “grown-up kids.” This collection features fun, zany animals with human characteristics. “My art inspires confidence. In building the “Babywood™” collection, children can see that anything is possible. I mean, why would an elephant not do a pirouette? This collection will hopefully inspire kids to reach into their imagination as well as boost their morale.” From facilitating specialized art programs for elementary schools to creating countless commissions as well as writing/illustrating children’s picture books, Rosalinde’s unique style marries the essence of innocence with an urban sophistication to which both adults and children can relate.

Rosalinde lives on Manhattan’s Upper West Side with her son, Joe.
